Does my browser need to accept cookies?
Yes. Cookies allow our website to recognise the information you have given us and also help us determine what portions of our website are most appropriately suited for your needs. Cookies will, therefore, allow you to retrieve previous image search results and view your previous invoices.
How do you protect the privacy of information I send to you?
Lonely Planet Images has enforced policies that protect the privacy of your information. We also use the latest internet technologies in the transfer of information.
Please read our Privacy Policy and Website & Licence Terms for more information.
Who do I contact if I have a question?
If you have any queries about the site - anything from logging in, downloading problems or researching your next job, contact your nearest office.
How large can I print your images?
All images are scanned and suitable for printing at a maximum of A4/letter. All images are in RGB format to allow you to determine the most suitable conversion method based on your requirements. See Tips & Help.
What if I want my image to be larger than A4?
If you require images to be scanned at a larger size you will need to contact your nearest office to make arrangements.
How do I download free comping images?
If you wish to download an image for comping/positional purposes you need to have been authorised by your nearest Lonely Planet Images with a Comping License. Once you have been given that license you will be able to download from the website by doing this:
- Open the image to the enlarged version.
- Select the 'Download Hi-Res' button.
- On the pop up that appears enter your Customer reference (such as magazine issue, book title or campaign you are working on).
- The comping image will start downloading to your computer
The HR image can only be used for comping purposes and should you wish to license the image please follow the instructions in the ‘Creating an Order’ section of the Help page.
What if I want LPI researchers to assist in my search for images?
At this stage, if you want an LPI researcher to assist you in the search of images you will need to contact your nearest office.
Is the search engine "case-sensitive", and "tense-sensitive"? Will it find plurals if I search for the singular?
The search engine is not case sensitive or tense sensitive. Upper and lower case searches are acceptable by the search engine. If you enter a singular search term, the search results will display both the singular and plural of the term.
What are the different/best ways of carrying out searches of images (ie: keywords, captions, places, photographers and combining these fields for more specific searches)?
The search engine offers a choice of search options. A quick search allows you to enter a phrase, keyword or image number and quickly retrieve matching images. Multiple keywords can be searched when separated by a comma.
An advanced search includes extra fields and search options to narrow down your search results, and help you find what you're looking for more quickly.
The category search allows you to refine your search by selecting a combination of categories and sub-categories.
In addition, you will be able to continue narrowing down your search results by searching again within that set of results.
How do I search for exclusions (ie: Italy without coffee)?
The advanced search offers you the quickest way to perform an exclusion search. Use the 'With all the words', 'With the exact phrase' or 'Without the words' text boxes. Using the example above, you would type in Italy in the 'With all the words' text box, and coffee in the 'Without the words' text box. Please note: that you will only be able to enter in a search term in the 'Without' text box, if you have entered in a term in either the 'With all the words' or 'With the exact phrase'
An advanced search includes extra fields and search options to narrow down your search results, and help you find what you're looking for more quickly.
In addition, you will be able to continue narrowing down your search results by searching again within that set of results.
Can I search the library without becoming a registered user?
Yes. However you will not have access to certain functions such as creating lightboxes, purchasing licences online or requesting comping images.
Can there be more than one user to a company account?
Yes. Each company account will have an allocated administrative user who will be able to access and update company details, as well as register new staff members to the account.
All users will be able to purchase and download images on behalf on the company. This benefits companies who wish to
keep track of large numbers of purchases and keep one account with LPI.
If you wish to register, please first find out your company is already registered with LPI and if so, contact the administrative user to obtain the required Company ID and password which you will require in order to register.
What happens if I forget my password?
Select the 'Forgot your Password?' link on the home page. You will be required to enter your email addresss, and your password will be emailed to you.
How long are lightboxes valid for?
Lightboxes will remain permanently valid. If you wish to remove a lightbox that you have created, you will be able to delete it. You will not be able to delete lightboxes created by other staff in your company.
Which credit cards do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard and Amex.
If I buy more than one image for multiple purposes can I negotiate a price with LPI?
If you would like to purchase an image for multiple purposes you will need to contact your local LPI office to negotiate a price.
Can I print out my Invoices, Delivery Memos and Commission Notes?
